About SafeBERTH
SafeBERTH is a global, community-driven safety rating platform for maritime berths, ports and terminal facilities — built by and for seafarers.
Our mission
Every year, preventable accidents happen at berths due to lack of reliable safety information. Port authority reports are often incomplete, outdated, or not freely accessible. SafeBERTH changes that: we give seafarers a trusted, real-time view of berth conditions — crowdsourced from the people who know best.
Our safety scores are calculated using a transparent, manipulation-resistant algorithm that weights reports by recency, reporter trust level, and peer confirmation. A report can save a life.
Our values
Safety first
Every feature is designed to make maritime operations safer. No fluff.
Community-driven
Ratings are only as good as the seafarers behind them. Quality beats quantity.
Open & neutral
No port authority or operator can pay to improve their score. Ratings are earned.
Built for crew
Designed for seafarers at sea — offline-capable, low-bandwidth, simple to use.
Score transparency
// Bayesian safety score formula
Score = (C × m + Σ wᵢ × sᵢ) / (C + Σ wᵢ)
wᵢ = w_reporter × w_recency × w_confirmation
w_recency = 0.5 ^ (age_days / 365) // 1-year half-life
Scores are shown as "preliminary" until a berth has at least 3 verified reports.
